Eight musicians
took advantage of this unique opportunity.
The day was split into two parts:
Part 1 (10AM-1:30PM) began with each participant introducing themselves, their reason for taking the course and their expectations.
Lloyd then gave everyone a condensed but thorough autobiographical introduction of his background.

Lloyd
has mastered over 400 recordings, many of which include recordings by musicians who have a home recording studio but
just can't seem to get a professional sound as their final result. The University of New Brunswick hired Lloyd to teach
its Digital Audio course after the students and local musicians lobbied them.
Part 1
involved Lloyd critiquing the demo recordings of each participant by listening to one song of their choice and providing useful
feedback not just of the recording itself but of the musical presentation. There was ample time for a question and answer
period. Everyone agreed that they learned as much by listening to other participant recordings and hearing what
Lloyd had to say.

During part 2
of the audio course (2:15PM-5PM), each participant had the chance to learn the essentials of being a live sound technician
according to Lloyd. He gave a brief philosophical speech that complimented and reinforced what the participants had
learned in the morning session.

In addition to his technical accomplishments,
Lloyd is a multi-talented professional musician, composer and arranger.
Lloyd is
mostly a self-taught musician who attended
one semester at Berkley Music School in Boston. He was exposed to music at an early age having toured with his father,
the late Aubrey Hanson, Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and the Stompin' Tom Award recipient. Music is in
Lloyd Hanson's blood - he has played virtually every style
of music during his career.

During the afternoon everyone was
given the chance to apply what we've learned by setting up the sound gear and running an efficient and effective sound check
with Lloyd observing and providing input. The participants were asked to bring their principle instrument and,
if applicable, their amp.
